In October, we have the opportunity to help our neighbors who are facing hunger and food insecurity through our annual food drive benefiting CROS Ministries. Hunger is a real concern in Palm Beach County with CROS providing food bags to 121,651 individuals in 2025. Please bring unopened, unexpired, non-perishable food to church during October. Suggested items include canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned beans, canned tuna or chicken, peanut butter, pasta, pasta sauce, rice, dried beans, cereal, oatmeal, macaroni and cheese, canned soups, canned pasta, shelf-stable milk, and other nutritious pantry staples.

Join the First Delray team as they participate in CROS Ministries’ Hustle to End Hunger 5K. As the saying goes, “Every little bit helps”. In this case, every step you take will help CROS Ministries help to make a difference in the lives of those who need it the most. Meet at John Prince Park at 7 a.m. and walk with the First Delray team. The cost is $45 per person and registration is required.

Join Christians around the world as we gather around the Lord’s Table to celebrate World Communion Sunday. As we celebrate, we are reminded that the church is much larger than any one congregation or denomination. Join us on Sunday, October 4th at 10 a.m. for worship.

Our much-anticipated Holly House Holiday Gift Shoppe opens on Sunday, October 11th following worship. This is a great place to pick up holiday decorations and unique gifts for this coming holiday season. Light refreshments will be served. Holly House is a ministry of our church.

What would a movie be without music? Our final concert will showcase the incredible impact of music themes from the Silver Screen. It’s an afternoon for memories of the nostalgia, inspiration, triumph, and poignancy that we have come to associate with great movie scores, from iconic classical pieces to heartfelt ballads. Our First Delray Singers and Phil Hinton will treat us to the vocal and instrumental music that has helped to shape many of the movies we have loved over the years. (Sorry, no popcorn in the Sanctuary!) Tickets are $20 each.

You are invited to a fun afternoon at PopStroke in Delray Beach. The afternoon includes lunch, games, equipment, and unlimited soft drinks. There is a cost of $20 per person and a $40 family cap. Reservations are required.

You won’t want to miss our much-anticipated Annual Christmas Pageant! Our children and youth will tell the story of Christ’s birth from a child’s point of view. This event is free, and we invite you to come support our youngest worshippers. Following the pageant, you are invited to Fellowship Hall to greet the performers and enjoy refreshments.

We welcome to our pulpit as our 2027 Distinguished Preacher, Rev. Dr. Michael B. Brown. He is the pastor at Blowing Rock Methodist Church in North Carolina. Prior to his ministry there, he was the Senior Minister at Marble Collegiate Church in New York City. Dr. Brown is an accomplished author, preacher, and teacher.
In 2028, Rev. Susan Sparks will be our 2028 Distinguished Preacher, with a date to be determined. She is an ex-trail lawyer, turned standup comedian, and minister at Madison Avenue Baptist Church in New York City.

Who can’t hum at least one tune from The Sound of Music? Richard Rodgers contributions to Broadway shows and films spans 50 years, including memorable songs for shows like The King and I, Carousel, Oklahoma! and South Pacific. His iconic compositions, showcased by our fabulous First Delray Singers, will feature sweeping waltzes, jazz-infused showtunes, and the heartfelt ballads by one of America’s best-known composers. Rodgers is the first person to win an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony—making him a true giant of American music. And the proof of his genius is that these songs still touch our hearts and minds today. Come celebrate this legacy with us. (You’re welcome to hum along.) Tickets are $25 each.

Back by popular demand, the Matt Calderin Big Band returns, teaming up with our First Delray Singers, to create the best time you’ve had in a long time! Matt and his band, who have taken South Florida by storm, will delight us with Big Band classics of the 1930s—50s and beyond, weaving a tribute to greats like Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Louis Armstrong, Les Hooper (who inspired our title), and Frank Sinatra. With our soloists, they’ll switch up styles with a program of both smooth, mellow tunes and lively, show-stopping numbers. We guarantee you’ll have trouble sitting still! Tickets are $30 each.

Join the fun as the Master Chorale of South Florida presents this very popular concert, delighting young and old with the musical story of “Peter and the Wolf” and other “Animal Tales.” In this charming musical adventure written for children by Sergei Prokofiev in 1936, the narrator Brett Karlin, Artistic Director of Master Chorale, tells the folk tale—with the melodies from flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, and bassoon each representing a specific character or animal in the tale. Many will remember this as their first introduction to instruments of an orchestra. Tell your friends, families, neighbors; bring your grandkids, come for a one-hour entertaining concert for all ages—and stay for a “Pizza Party with Peter!” Children are welcome with an accompanying adult. Tickets are $10 each for adults & teens; $5 each for children 12 & under.

It’s that spooky time of year, and we have conjured up a special Halloween treat for you! This concert, filled with spirited music and some haunted melodies will feature the Classern Quartet and our First Delray Singers. The much-praised quartet combines the elegance of a sting quartet with pop and rock melodies from yesterday and today. Among the surprising array of “creepy” songs that the Quartet has assembled, you will likely hear pieces ranging from Michael Jackson’s Thriller and themes from E.T., Addams Family and Ghostbusters to The Devil Went Down to Georgia by Charlie Daniels Band to Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain! Add our phantastic First Delray Singers, and you’ll want to hurry home and lock the doors, he-he-he-he! Tickets are $25 each.
